DC KinCare Community Board Meets on Zoom to Take Virtual Holiday Picture!
Most everyone received their DC KinCare Santa Hats, and those who didn’t wore something red instead! A few members lost the pom-pom on their Santa Hat, including one pom-pom that was eaten by their dog. But is was a fun time had by all and we got a great picture together! Happy Holidays Everyone!

DC KinCare Community Advisory Board October 2020 Monthly Meeting
The DC Office of Tax Advocate provided a presentation to our Community Board about the Schedule H Renters Tax Credit. All attendees found the presentation informative and helpful. The Community Board also discussed working on an oral history project and virtual family mural.

Marla and Stephanie Continue Helping Relative Caregivers and the Children they Raise During COVID-19
In June and July, here are some examples of how we helped relative caregivers: (1) Get a larger housing unit; (2) Apply for utility assistance; (3) Apply for rental assistance; (4) File a housing conditions case; (5) Reinstate SNAP benefits; (6) Apply for Unemployment Insurance; and (7) Get emergency custody in court.

Some examples from the first week of May: helped a relative caregiver submit documents to receive her small business microgrant; helped a relative caregiver apply for unemployment benefits; gave advice to caregivers on illegal rental practices; and assisted caregivers to obtain free food.
