Community Organizing Specialist
Avius Poole is a communications, writing, and event planning professional. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked in various spaces such as private sector companies, politics, and nonprofits. Ms. Poole is an advocate in her work and personal life as she founded a group called Girls Linked to mentor teen girls primarily in DC Wards 7 and 8. She also served as board member for Daybreak Ministries in the Deanwood community that focuses on helping at-risk youth. Currently, Ms. Poole serves as a DCKC Community Board Member. She is pursuing a Masters in Social Work at the University of Denver and hopes to use her degree to help those involved in the criminal justice system. She is a caregiver to her dad, Momtie to her niece, and cat mom to her cat King T’clint. Ms. Poole looks forward to advocate for and empower DC’s kinship caregivers and the children they raise.
