What We Do
We support relative caregivers to step up in times of crisis to raise D.C. children by providing
legal representation, resources and education, and advocacy for D.C.’s kinship caregivers.
We provide our services in accordance with the Child Welfare League of America’s Kinship Traditions of Caring and Collaborating
Trauma Informed Model of Practice
Our Work
Representation
We represent relative caregivers in court to obtain custody of and to adopt at-risk D.C. children, and we represent them in applying for benefits and services to ensure a safe and stable home.
Resources
and education
We provide kinship families with resources, education, and information about their legal rights, and the support services and financial resources that are available to them.
advocacy
We advocate for laws and policies to ensure the safety and stability of all kinship families, and we file impact litigation to redress discrimination against kinship families.
